The company was founded in 2012 to source and supply Japans finest artisan products – direct from the farmers, fishermen and makers.
We specialise in supplying the highest quality Japanese cooking ingredients to hotels, restaurants, professional chefs and keen home cooks around the world. All of our products are shipped to order, direct from Tokyo.
From humble beginnings with just a few devoted chefs and friends for customers, we now supply some of the world’s most famous restaurants.
Being a small group of Japanese and Western food industry professionals, having worked in leading establishments around the globe, we understand the difficulties experienced by many foreigners when trying to buy top quality ingredients or specialised cooking equipment from Japan.
Our aim is to provide a service, sourcing the very highest artisan ingredients, as used by the very best Japanese chefs and make them available to all cooks worldwide.
At Cook Tokyo, we will take care of the sourcing, translation, payments, legalities and logistics associated with buying and shipping products internationally from Japan.
Our Producers
Real relationships, both with our producers and our customers, are essential to our business.
Cook Tokyo is wholly committed to Direct Trade. We do not buy from large supply companies or market middle men. We source from and pay directly to our makers and producers.
We are extremely lucky and proud to work with unique artisan companies, making extraordinarily good products.
Some of our Konbu and Katsuobushi is very rare, with only a limited amount produced each year while other products can be made on a larger scale. All of our products are traditionally crafted by skilled men and women at small, independent companies and not industrially processed by large agri-businesses or corporations.
Rich biodiversity is crucial to the flavour of our products and all our producers are committed to ethical, sustainable, organic practices that benefit both land and sea.
Our range is small but carefully chosen. We travel the country, from Kanto to Kansai and Hokkaido to Kyushu, seeking the finest examples of each individual product. We focus on quality and only select the very best.

Our Customers
While our work with chefs and restaurateurs is the core of our business no order is too big or too small. We supply to cafes, gastro pubs and private homes as well as Michelin starred restaurants and grand luxury hotels. We take pride in the personal relationships we build with our customers and we strive to provide the best person to person service available anywhere online.
